Welcome to Miramar's Danse Arabesque!
Dedicated to the preservation of authentic Middle Eastern, Vintage American Cabaret and Tribelle Chic Belly Dance for Women of all sizes, shapes and ages.
Miramar offers both group and private belly dancing classes at Kay's Dance Studio in Stephens City, VA and at her home studio in Cross Junction, VA. If you are new to bellydancing, please be sure to check out my ShimmyShape page!
Miramar also performs for birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings and corporate events.
Her troupe, Troupe Tribelle, which she co-directs with Angela Petry, performs Tribelle Chic and is available for festival performances.
What is Tribelle Chic? It is an improvised style of group dancing created by Miramar and derived from American Tribal Style belly dance. We wear colorful Gypsy style costumes with elaborate belts, headpieces and jewelry.
Miramar provides many oppor-tunities for her students to perform at informal haflas, dance recitals and other events. Some students simply want to take classes for exercise or stress relief – that is fine too. Frequent haflas provide an outlet for fun, creative expression and an opportunity for both the novice and professional dancer to perform new works or polished routines.
"I wanted to thank you so much for class yesterday. I enjoy it each week, but yesterday I especially appreciated everything that you do. I hadn't been feeling well for several days and had debated whether I was well enough to drive all that way and participate in class, but I decided that to go for it. I came home feeling so much better than I left-energized and enthusiastic. I felt great. Thank you for that. I wanted you to know that you made a big impact in my life yesterday. What you do is meaningful, and I love the warm, supportive way that you do it."
Belly dancing or Raks Sharqi (Eastern dance) is one of the great loves of my life. I enjoy sharing this beautiful art form with women and girls and helping them to find their inner dancer and experience more joy in their lives. Included in my classes are cultural and historical, costuming and make-up information. I teach both cabaret (nightclub or stage) belly dancing, as well as traditional folklore from various countries. Tribelle Chic is also included.
Belly dancing can and often is a powerful tool for women to awaken their bodies, rekindle their spirits and oftentimes change their lives for the better. I believe that Belly Dancing is a healing force for women – it encourages growth and new directions. Many life-long friendships are formed in the belly dance world.
Belly Dancing is about women supporting women – it is about the beauty and artistry of an ancient art form. It is about courage, talent, skill, displaying emotions that are cute, sultry, clever, and yes, even sexy, but that is only part of this dance. By researching, studying and promoting this art form in America – I believe that we are helping women in the Middle East – we are saying we think your art - your dance is special. We love it – we want to study and promote it, and little by little, we can bring cultural awareness into the world and an understanding and appreciation of other art forms, cultures and people. And hopefully help to bring about world peace.
Join me on this journey to far away times, lands and the mystical, magic world of belly dancing.
